Since high school, I have been an active
outdoorsman. I enjoy backpacking and cycling. The serenity of being
out in the woods, or on the top of a mountain, is unparalleled, and
the effort it takes to get there only makes it more rewarding. |

But in an urban, professional lifestyle,
getting out in the woods (or the desert--I love the American Southwest)
doesn't happen every day. After work, or on the weekends, getting
on the bike is a great way to get the kinks out. It doesn't matter
if it's quiet country roads, or trails through the forest the
rhythm of the pedals soothes the soul. |

I managed to combine my two favorite outdoor
activities on a recent trip with Adam French. We cycled through the
forests on the base of Mount
Kenya for three days, then rode up to 10,000 feet. We left the
bikes at base camp and walked up to the summit (Pt. Lenana - 16,300
ft), then turned around and bombed down the mountain! |
